mETH Protocol
Following the initial success of Mantle's permissionless, non-custodial ETH Liquid Staking Protocol (LSP), and the widespread adoption and composability of $mETH, it was only natural for the team to build on that foundation and embark on the next growth phase of mETH Protocol.
The passage of MIP-30 sparked the next growth phase by introducing $cmETH, a permissionless and composable Liquid Restaking Token (LRT). $cmETH will enable Mantle to offer users seamless access to restaking opportunities on top of underlying Ethereum Proof-of-Stake yields and more, simply by opting their $mETH in for $cmETH.

cmETH: Yield Opportunities With mETH Restaking
mETH Protocol aims to offer users a highly rewarding restaking experience by providing $cmETH holders with rewards generated through whitelisted restaking strategies, while promoting the widespread adoption of $cmETH across a wide range of Mantle L2 applications.
As we approach the launch of $cmETH, it will become one of the most composable assets, supporting both existing and new restaking platforms. This means that if you choose to exchange $mETH for $cmETH, you'll have the flexibility to easily enter and exit restaking positions while gaining access to potentially greater restaking rewards. However, while restaking may seem appealing, users should also carefully consider the associated risks.
cmETH's Role Within Mantle Ecosystem
Once $cmETH becomes available, holders will initially enjoy six types of yields:
- Yield from ETH Proof-of-Stake validation (provided via the underlying $mETH)
- Yield from restaking protocols (e.g., EigenLayer, Symbiotic, Karak, etc.)
- Yield from Actively Validated Services (AVS)
- $COOK rewards (multiple seasons)
- Other technology partner rewards
- Yield from L2 dApps and Protocol Integrations
What makes $cmETH such a promising asset is its potential for high composability within Mantle Ecosystem dApps, unlocking new opportunities for holders once it becomes available. Just as $mETH has become a core part of Mantle Ecosystem, we expect $cmETH to follow suit by offering users the same yield-bearing opportunities that $mETH currently presents. To explore how far you can take your $mETH within the Mantle ecosystem, check out our blog, "Unlock the Potential of mETH in the Mantle Ecosystem."
Start Preparing for cmETH
To successfully prepare for the introduction of restaking on Mantle, users will need to ensure they have $mETH ready to exchange for $cmETH. There are several ways users can obtain $mETH, including:
- Stake $ETH on mETH Protocol in exchange for $mETH
- Swap assets on Mantle DEXs for $mETH
- Buy $mETH directly on selected CEXs

Alongside the launch of $cmETH, users can also anticipate the launch of $COOK, the upcoming governance token for mETH Protocol. Users can position themselves to get $COOK once it becomes available in several ways. Be sure to explore Mantle's blog, which offers a wealth of content guiding users through the process of obtaining $COOK.
